How teamwork is essential to a successful project

17.4.2024 | Inferow Team

The project of implementing a product involves the cooperation of two teams that are fundamentally different from each other.

The implementation team, an experienced and organized group, approaches the project with confidence that they will achieve their goals. They possess knowledge of the project stages, are adept at asking the right questions, and are capable of guiding and advising on insights and business decisions.

Conversely, the client’s team is often a make-up of individuals from diverse fields and have different roles in the company. Those individuals may not be acquainted with each other, but to make the implementation successful, they must come together and share their knowledge and proficiency.

The differences between the teams, as well as the composition of the second team, could impede the project’s progress in terms of timelines and increased hours spent.

How can we overcome the gap between the teams?

1. Project Manager

The role of the PM is crucial in ensuring task execution, bringing in the right people at the right times, and anticipating and preventing problems and delays in timelines. Their role is to mediate between the teams to keep the project alive and moving.

2. Following the project timelines

Each project needs to use a Gantt chart to track progress and achieve milestones. The Gantt chart, which the project manager usually oversees, is instrumental in accomplishing a successful project completion.

3. Good working relationships

Maintaining good working relationships between the teams is extremely vital. The implementation team can help the client’s team understand the project stages by establishing clear and predetermined stages. Effective communication is crucial, as an open and transparent environment can encourage the members to ask questions and take an interest in the project’s process.

4. Motivation

Motivation is an important tool for project advancement. The implementation team can generate quick wins throughout the project to help the client’s team promote the project internally. For instance, rallying additional teams within the company to promote the project, preparing the ground for the new product, obtaining additional resources for future developments, and prioritizing the dedicated time for the project.

5. Support

Finally, it is essential to allow the client’s team to feel supported, even in situations where the project has stopped due to technical problems, budgetary issues, etc.

To sum up, teamwork, professionalism, and good rapport are pivotal elements to a successful project. When teams work as a cohesive unit, the project can prosper and succeed.
